About Gilbert Isbin
 Gilbert
Isbin's style blends jazz, a variety of ethnic idioms,
and forms from the modern classical tradition and avantgarde.
The improvisational technique and harmonic language of
contemporary jazz, raga forms, polyrhythms, irregular meters,
avant rock and Brazilian music are just a few of the flavors
that seep into his work.
History
After playing all kinds of music, from lute and baroque
music, blues, folk and jazz for quite a while, his love
for composing and performing self-composed contemporary
guitar music prevailed. Gilbert Isbin has recorded thus
far 12 albums, which have been highly acclaimed by the
international musicpress. and which are worldwide distributed.
He has collaborated in concert and/or recorded with American
and European players, such as bassplayers Cameron Brown,
Joe Fonda , celloplayers Ernst Reijseger, Jan Kuijken,
reedplayers Michel Godard, John Ruocco, singers Jaap Blonk,
guitarists Sandor Szabo, Philippe Deschepper, Pedro Soler,
Hurdy gurdy player Iep Fourrier,...
 Gilbert
has written music for the documentary films. He composed
guitarmusic for solo, duet, trio and quartet settings of
which his 'Summer Moon Dance' has been added to the repertoire
of the internationally acclaimed Quartetto Chitarrisitco
Italiano. Several of his compositions for sologuuitar are
and will be published by Copamusic
Productions.
Gilbert wrote colums on technique and improvisation for
Acoustic Guitar Workshop (UK) , Guitar Noise (USA) , Guitar
9 (USA), Gitaarnet (The Netherlands) and does ocassionally clinics on improvisation.
